1 . 375 DRIVERS SEATS .
ARE THESE GOING TO BE REPLACED ?
THE ADJUSTMENT PACK FOR THESE SEATS IS WRONG . FROM MID DECEMBER THE SEATS ARE GOING TO BE RE SET TO THEIR FACTORY SETTINGS . WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR A BIG IMPROVEMENT . PLEASE LET YOUR LDR KNOW IF YOU STILL FIND THEM UNCOMFORTABLE .
2 . SEATS IN MESS ROOM
WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO BE REPLACED ?
THERE IS A LORRY LOAD OF FURNITURE WAITING IN THE NEW YARD . WE WILL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE , SEE IF ANY OF THIS IS SUITABLE FOR OUR MESS ROOM . IF NOT THEN REPLACEMENTS WILL BOUGHT .
3 . REST DAYS
COULD THE LIST CLERK PUT A LIST OF WHO IS NEXT TO WORK ON THE DAILY ALTERATION SHEET ?
YES HOPEFULLY FROM THURSDAY OF THIS WEEK [6 TH DEC] THE LIST CLERK WILL PUT THE FIRST 3 DRIVERS ON EACH SHIFT NEXT TO WORK , AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DAILY ALTERATION SHEET . THIS WILL ENABLE THE SDM TO CONTACT THE DRIVER WHO IS NEXT TO WORK .
4 . MOBILE PHONES
HAS THE COMPANY GOT A POLICY ON THE USE OF MOBILE PHONES ?
THE SAFETY MANUAL SAYS THAT MOBILES SHOULD BE SWITCHED OFF WHEN A DRIVER IS USING AN OFFICIAL WALKING ROUTE , AND WHEN IN A DRIVING CAB . WE THE LDR WILL ASK COMPANY COUNCIL TO SEEK A MORE COMPREHENSIVE AGGREEMENT THAN THIS . WHAT IF A DRIVER NEEDS TO USE ONE IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THERE IS NO OTHER MEANS OF COMMUNICATION ?
5 . HAZARDS AT WORK BOOK . ORGANISING FOR SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACES .
CAN THE COMPANY BUY THIS BOOK FOR OUR H&S REP ?
WE WILL LOOK INTO HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO PROVIDE A COPY FOR ALL H & S REPS ON SOUTHEASTERN .
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE LIGHTS IN THE SDGS LAST WEEK . OUR DRIVERS WERE HAVING TO USE BARDICS , AND A SHUNTER DRIVER WAS INJURED IN THE NEW SDGS . THIS WE FIND TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE .
B . A WILL QUESTION RAILTRACK OVER THIS AND REPORT BACK .
CLEANERS ARE LEAVING CAB DOORS OPEN AT NIGHT . THIS WILL RESULT IN A DELAY IF NOT SORTED .
A LETTER TO THE CLEANING MANAGER WILL SENT .
GROUND SHUNTERS NOT BEING VISABLE WHEN ENTERING THE SDGS .
IT WAS REPORTED TO THE LDR THAT DRIVERS WERE CONCERNED THAT THE GROUND SHUNTERS WERE NOT GIVING HAND SIGNALS WHEN TRAINS ARE ENTERING THE SDGS .
DOSM WILL REMIND THEM OF THE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT DRIVERS ARE AWEAR OF THEIR PRESENCE .
DRIVERS WHO ARE OFF TRACK HANDING OUT DPSD BRIEFS .
IT WAS REPORTED TO THE LDR THAT A DRIVER WHO IS OFF THE TRACK PENDING AN INVESTIGATION INTO A SPAD , WAS ASKED TO GET DRIVERS TO SIGN FOR 3 SPAD BRIEFS . ONE RELATED TO HIS OWN ALLEDGED SPAD .
WE THINK THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE , AND MORE CONSIDERATION SHOULD BE SHOWN IN THE FUTURE .
DRIVERS RIGHT TO A REP DURING INVESTIGATION INTERVIEWS .
WE WOULD LIKE A DRIVER TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A REP OR COMPANION DURING A FACT FINDING INTERVIEW . WE THINK THAT THIS MIGHT HELP TO DEFUSE ANY DISPUTES THAT MIGHT ARISE .
MANAGEMENT POINTED OUT THE H R GUIDELINES THAT STATE A DRIVER IS NOT ENTITLED TO A REP DURING FACT FINDING INTERVIEW , AND TO ALLOW A RAMSGATE DRIVER TO HAVE ONE WOULD THEN SET A PRECIDENT .
WE WILL BE WRITING TO OUR COMPANY COUNCIL TO ASK THAT THEY PUT THIS TO THE DIRECTORS .
DOWN LOADING OF UNITS BY ENGINEERING DEPT .
AN INVESTIGATION INTO CLAIMS OF LOST TIME AGAINST THE 375 ,S HAS RESULTED IN ENGINEERING DOWN LOADING UNITS TO SEE WHAT PROBLEMS THEY ARE HAVING . ONE THING THAT WAS LOOKED AT WAS EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLICATIONS OVER 3 MPH . WHEN SUCH AN EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLICATION IS MADE IT ALERTS ENGINEERING WHO THEN INFORM DRIVER MANAGERS . SOME OF THESE BRAKE APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN FOUND TO BE TPWS AND AWS ACTIVATIONS . IF A DRIVER HAS MADE AN EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLICATION DUE TO SAY A P WAY MAN NOT MOVING OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY ENOUGH , COULD THE DRIVER MAKE OUT A REPORT .
THESE ARE CALLED XDM REPORTS AND THEY ONLY COVER MITRAC FAULTS THAT APPEAR ON THE SCREEN , OTMR REPORTS COVER DRIVER ACTIONS .
THE NEW UNIFORM WILL BE ARRIVING THIS WEEK . DRIVERS ARE ASKED TO TRY IT ON TO SEE IF ANY ITEMS NEED TO BE REPLACED . THE PACK WILL CONTAIN WASH/WEAR DETAILS , AND 8 CLEANING TOKENS . IF ANY ITEM OF UNIFORM IS NOT ISSUED BY 1 st JAN A LETTER EXPLAINING WHY WILL BE ISSUED , INCASE A DRIVER IS CHALLENGED FOR NOT WEARING THE ITEM .
THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH DRIVERS BEING ISSUED PARKING TICKETS . IF YOU FIND THAT THERE IS NO PARKING SPACE , AND YOU GET A TICKET FOR PARKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAR PARK , PLEASE SEE YOUR DRIVER MANAGER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE .

ANNUAL LEAVE ROTATION
THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME CONFUSION OVER WHERE SOME DRIVERS ARE IN THE ANNUAL LEAVE ROTATION . TO FIND OUT WHAT GROUP YOU WILL BE IN FOR 2008 AND BEYOND PLEASE LOOK AT THE ROTATION ORDER ON THE HOLIDAY ROSTER . IF YOU CHANGE OVER FOR ANOTHER PERIOD IT DOES NOT CHANGE YOUR POSITION ON THE ROTATION .SOME DRIVERS HAVE CHANGED OVER THIS YEAR AND DO NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THEIR ROTAION POSITION FOR 2008 SHOULD BE .IF IN ANY DOUBT PLEASE ASK AND I WILL SHOW YOU WHICH PERIOD YOU WERE IN FOR 2007 .
